petunias leaves crispy

truzella(z7 z,f)July 25, 2008

Every year my petunias start out lovely and then the temperature increases the the leaves near the roots become crispy and die, regardless of the amount of water I give them. I see other people's petunias that are lush and the pot is very full and alive. Any suggestions?

You are not watering them enough. A pot filled with roots supporting a cascade of flowers needs a lot of water...a LOT! 2 or 3 times a day in hot and dry or windy weather.
If they once dry out you have to soak them in a bucket of water to re wet the root ball.
