Is Osteospermum (African Daisy) leaves poisonous?

jumbojimmy(Australa)August 19, 2007

I was dead-heading my osteospermum 'Lemon symphony' today, and the leaves have this pungent soil-like smell - it was so strong that my nose couldn't take it anymore, so I had to use a mask to cover my mouth and nose area.

Anyone here experience this same problem?

They are not toxic. I don't really mind the aroma of the foliage.
