Eggs on apple branch

tedgrowsit(6b PA)February 16, 2013

In pruning my apple trees, I have come across a couple of small branches with eggs covering them. The eggs look like small brown cucumber seeds, or maybe like flax seeds. They overlap, somewhat like scales on a fish. They are glued very securely onto the branch. The bark underneath comes off with the egg when removed. Thank you for your help.

Thanks, Rhizo, A 10 second search confirms it. They are katydid eggs. Thanks. Ted
