I have 10 inches of snow on the ground and the frost is 2 feet down into the soil... Going to be another month before trees even flower...maybe
Well look at the bright side. Y'all have more winter chill than anything would need. Every year for me is a "gamble" on whether I get fruit like sweet cherries or even some of my Japanese plums.
The lemon guava has a very sweet acid flavor. It's delicious IMO. More like an ultrasweet passionfruit flavor than lemon.
My Lemon Guava in Nor Cal fruits in the fall. Very tasty! Hard seeds though...
Some of my early varieties are just starting to set some fruit.
Eva's Pride Peach
Spice Zee Nectaplum
Dapple Dandy Pluot
Gold Kist Apricot
Flavor Delight Aprium
I have early yellow peaches, not sure what kind. It wakes up in late January just before my roses do so I called it rooster. Now we refer to it as Cogburn's peach. How big do they have to grow before I can begin thinning?
In my dreams!
Yep -Apricot and satsuma plum
But this could be a problem we are expecting a cold winter storm to blow through this weekend coming from Cal. I have my fingers crossed !
I have figs and plums set on now. My peaches, nectarines, and pears haven't even broke dormancy yet.
I brought in a peach tree (container) out of the garage (frozen solid) and after a month its finally showing green.... Just trying to get a head start.
