Grafted My Cherries

Edymnion(7a)March 28, 2013

Okay, I don't know if any of them will take, but I just finished my first attempt at grafting onto my cherry trees.

Had a sweet cherry from Walmart that was the primary donor, grafted onto my Bing and Montmorency (with a limb or two from the Bing moved over to the Mont as well).

Did mostly side grafts, with a couple of cleft grafts. Kept my tools sterilized as best I could, sterilized the cuts with a quick hit of peroxide, then wrapped and sealed them as tight as I could.

Everyone cross your fingers for me, I really hope they take.

Ed,

Your grafts will be just fine. Keep us update.

Yeah, what gets me is the waiting.

If/when any of the grafts has clearly and surely failed, it will be far too late to attempt any others for the year to replace them. But oh well, thats the name of the game. I've done everything I can for them, time to just leave them alone and "Live or die, make your choice!".
