apple bark issue

curtis(5)March 16, 2014

I have this on one of my trees. It doesn't go through to the cambium. I have it on 2 different vertical branches, each at about 4' and on the north side. I'll post a few pix

I cut one branch off, not due to this, but in the process of fixing the structure.

the funny areas are north facing and 12 feet or more from a building, so couldn't be reflected heat. The missing bark is mostly from me picking it off to look under.

Did Harvestman go on vacation? surely he has an idea.
