nectarine trees question

charleslou23March 10, 2014

Howdy, are there any nectarine trees start budding or waken up from the winter yet? I have a southern or low chill variety and still look quite dormant and still have no leaves growing. It's alive cause I cause a tiny piece of branch out and noticed inside still greenish..... am I too anxious or what?

I only have one nectarine tree already blossom and developing small fruitlets. It's a Sunraycer variety, so I believe they ripen in the beginning of May.

In most Z9 climates low chill nectarine should be pushing buds or already blooming.

Well sure just planted out of cold storage and fully dormant it can be 4-6 weeks behind. It takes a certain number of heat units to start growing.
