Pollinator for superior plum

Noogy(6 sw mi)March 14, 2013

I read recommendations for pollinators but wonder if satsuma, methley, shiro, elephant heart will do. I see toka, kaga and others are recommended, but I don't want to buy more. Anyone have any luck with the other Japanese varieties?

Raintree recommends Shiro, Emerald Beaut, or another late blooming Jap plum. If you have Shiro and all the others you listed you should be fine.

Some of the research I've read suggests wild plums are the best pollinators...if you have some near where you live, they may be all you need... We have a lot of them growing around here, although I think that is where all my plum curculio are originating from.
