Titan almond tree

ozarkgrowerMarch 20, 2013

Hi. Ive been thinking about buying a Titan almond tree from Raintree. Im in SW MO. They say they are good to zone 5. I just want a sweet, true almond for personal consumption that is not a peach hybrid. Ive heard that the hybrids like Halls Hardy don't taste very good. I do have a peach tree so it can hopefully pollinate. Does anybody have experience with Titan/Lovell in northern states? Is there a variety that yields true almonds in MO? Anybody?
Thanks in advance.

Raintree seems to warn you about fungal problems, and I bet it is moist where you are. How about the Reliable hybrid? Seems very rare! Raintree has that too, and says almonds are tasty! Hey get both! :) If I had room i would!

I think my Hall's has great flavor, but requires boiling to remove toxins, and the shell is extremely hard and the kernels small. Mostly just ornamental.
