Time to cover my peach trees?

Chris-7b-GA(7b)March 18, 2013

I am looking forward to my first crop of peaches from my 2 year Challenger and Cresthaven trees. I thought they were considered late blooming varieties since the chill hours are around 950 but I think they are at the pink stage right now with big pink buds that look like they are ready to pop open.

I are expecting a low of 28 Wednesday night, will this kill the buds? Do I need to cover the trees? The only thing I can think of to cover them is a large tarp, not sure if that would help, any thoughts from you veterans would be appreciated, thanks!

With buds about to open you should still be good down to the low 20s. See chart linked below.
