apple tree bark problems

gwald(9B)March 25, 2014

This tree still produces plentiful apples, but there is a bad spot where the bark is starting to peel, just one branch. I attached a picture. This branch other than that is still doing well. Is there a way to peel back the bark and seal the "wound"? Thanks for any help!

Possibly Southwest Injury? It has to do with freezing and thawing. Paint the other branch white on that side. Some people tack down the edges of the live bark around the damage to keep it from peeling further, there's nothing you can do to heal the damaged bark.
