What ate my banana tree leaves?

sallyrayApril 30, 2013

Funny, I thought the didn't have any pests. This ice cream banana tree is still in a pot recovering from the winter. A new leaf unfurled to show these bit marks. Any ideas?

A caterpillar of some kind ate through the leaf while it was still rolled up, young, and tender. Most insects probably don't like the mature leaves because they are much tougher.
