Raspberry plants coming early

I just got an email notice that my bare root raspberry plants will be arriving next week. It'll be 2 or 3 weeks before the ground has thawed here enough for planting.

Can I just leave them in the shipping packaging and refrigerate them till I'm ready?

if not what is recommended?

If this happened to me I would pack the raspberry roots in damp peat moss and refrigerate the package.
