Question for you. I have an apple tree ( very small apples that I got from the bush where it was growing wild. It has now grown a whole lot and is blooming etc . Wud this be a good tree to graft onto as it is obviously vey hardy. Several more growing out there.

That's nice,..a typical white flowering crab, also good to pollinate other apples.

Konrad, this is a question I was going ask! I have three ten year old 'Candied Apple' crabapple trees that are in full bloom right now. Will they help to pollinate my 'Pristine' apple which is in full bloom as well? I have other apple trees coming along as well, but their blossoms will not be open until later this week. Many thanks, Merci! Mrs. G

I would say yes, the Candied Apple is not sterile and the Pristine needs a pollinator,.. my understanding is that all crab apples can be a good pollinator,....has Pristine not set fruit in the past?

Hi Konrad! thanks for answering. No the Pristine has not set fruit before. The crabs and Pristine are both out now with a few Jonagold blossoms (which will do nothing) and my Enterprise will bloom later this week. Fingers crossed, merci encore fois! Mrs. g
