Enough sun for an espalier apple tree?

kylew1234April 23, 2013

I live in Iowa and was wondering if espalier apple trees would get enough sun on the west side of my garage.

Thanks,

Kyle

Probably not. Sun should be at least 6 hours including 10AM to 4PM to get a good crop and resist disease.

8 to Noon probably isnt going to cut it.
If you planted the trees further out into the lawn (closer to the viewer in the picture). You'll likely get the trees in more sun and avoid the garage shading.
