Fix the broken branch in the Shinseiki Asian Pear

nandakumar(7)April 9, 2013

Hi, I planted Shinseiki Asian pear this year and it is already leafed out. One of the branch got broken during planting (circled in pink in the below photo) but still holding on to the tree and it also has new leafs.

Is there any way I can fix this, please let me know.

I have a shinseki as well. I guess you could fix it but if were mine I would cut it off. Weak branch, could get bugs, just not good. How large in dia. is it?

Nope, just cut it now. If you manage to splint it, it will be a future weak point and guaranteed to snap with a little snow or any fruit load. That plus disease.
