Removing rootstock growth from new apple grafts?

jayco(5b NY)April 14, 2012

One of my brand new apple grafts is sprouting a few tiny leaves -- both from the scion and from the rootstock.

I am supposed to nip off the growth from the rootstock, right?

Thanks!
