Frost for 2nd time on my grape vine

fespoApril 24, 2012

Good afternoon everyone, well last night we had a frost in my part of town. They were not calling for frost last night but we got it anyway. Now this is second time this has happened. With are very warm March they budded out and started to grow out. Then the frost freeze, ok everything started over again, then last night again. I know i will lose alot of grapes but do you think, now after all this i will have anything this year?

Each "bud" actually contains 3 buds, primary, secondary, and tertiary. So it is likely you will get new growth again from the same buds, but the tertiary buds are the least fruitful (primary are most fruitful). If you get another frost that kills the tertiary buds you are not likely to get any fruit, but the vine will push dormant buds in other places and so you can get fruit next year, unless they get frosted again next year.
