Damaged almond tree branch

So the next door gardener cut some of the overhand branches, and one fell right on my newly planted almond tree. Th branch was bent so far, 50% of the fibers have torn. The other 50% is in tact and holding the branch in place.

Can this be repaired, or should I remove the whole branch? I am concerned beacuse this is 1 of 3 main scaffold branches.

If it can be repaired, how?

That doesn't look bad. Support it in place if necessary. In fact you might want to wrap it with something elastic for a month or two until it can begin to heal. Then keep excess weight off it for a year or two.

Alternatively you can cut it off and a good replacement branch will probably sprout, if there isn't an alternative already in place.

I would do as Fruitnut suggested. Support it good and it should heal up fine. If it doesn't you can always cut it off later.

Sweet. I wrapped it tight with white stretchy grafting tape.
