Help with Pluot pruning

brownmolaApril 19, 2013

I have two pluots that were planted from containers about 5 months ago. Normally, I have been pruning to keep the centers open but these were pruned by the nursery while in the container. Is the pruning on these okay for trying to keep the trees under 8 feet? Or should I go ahead and cut out the central leader (at the red line in the photo) to have a more open center. Both trees are 3/4" caliper approximately.

Just watch the video in the link and shape your tree this way. Tom Spellman will show you how. I pruned my tree his way. I like the easy way to get fruits.
