transplant grapefruit

dreamkittenApril 21, 2012

What is the best way to move a grapefruit. I in poor judgement planted my ruby red where it really doesnt have room enough to grow well. I have an oak and a carport blocking it and have been rethinking it being too close to the house however I am removing a disease pecan out this week and need a pretty tree back there. Its pretty tall a little taller than my carport but trunk is still small and not very wide. Oak is really stunting it. I planted it about four years ago. I would love it to be moved to the center of my back yard where it will have all the room it wants. It is fruiting for the first time right now..I need suggestions of how to move it without killing it.

NEVER move a tree in fruit ...

timing is imperative with trees .. and it is done in a dormant phase.. and i have no clue when that is for you.. since i have no clue where you are.. beyond the fact that you grow citrus ...

probably late fall or winter..
