I am having an odd situation with my Natchez blackberries and since they are new to me thought I would ask. The plants are on their second year in the ground and grew great. They have produced 100's and 100's of blossoms and fruit that look awesome and taste good but the fruit is hard and even when dead ripe does not want to separate from the stem. I am not picking them too soon...they go from glossy to dull and are still hard to remove. I let some go until they were well passed their ripe stage and started to shrivel and still they don't want to separate from the plant and the fruit remains kind of hard. I have never grown Natchez before so is that normal?
Btw just have to post a picture of the newest garden bug patrol members. These 13 popped in to the world yesterday in my cabinet incubator. They were from an abandoned nest. To be clear an abandoned nest of my ducks not wild ducks lol. I really do love them in the garden as they eat their weight in bugs.
