Dwarf Nectarines - shriveling?

MikemacxMay 12, 2012

I have a dwarf nectarine tree that has been doing well and fruited for the first time, but I noticed today that about a third of the fruits seem a little shriveled on the skin. I water them regularly and feed them compost, but I'm not sure if this is a concern or not. Is this just the tree's way of thinning itself out?

The leaves seem fine and are very green.

More than likely your tree is self thinning. I usually thinned my fruits out every 7 inches and some people even thinned them out every 8-10 inches for bigger fruits.

Most likely the tree is aborting the smaller fruits. If that's the case, it's entirely normal.
