Apricot tree pruning question

galinas(5B)May 11, 2014

Hello, my apricot tree I was worry about finally woke up, but in a strange way... I kind of lost now, what I should do with it...
See picture - it has 16 inches from the ground to the first branch. The top portion - 24 inches. Left branch has 2 alive buds about to open. Right one has absolutely nothing. On top there are three alive buds ready to open. How and when I should prune it? In my understanding it should be two buds on each branch to make skeleton branches(sorry, if it is not right terminology). But now it is only have one side...I am not sure if I have to use top buds to create another layer... I planted it last fall - it came same as is on the picture. Thank you in advance!

Give it some time. All you need to make a tree is one shoot. Post back with a picture of the actual tree after it grows more and I bet you'll get more responses.
