I will be in San Diego CA around serra mesa this week. Can somebody recommend a good nursery or farmer market to look for fruit trees.
These are my favorites...
Exotica in Vista for hard to find fruit trees from all around the world. They also have a lot of different varieties of figs, tropical guavas, that you wont find at most nurseries.
Kniffings in El Cajon for stone fruit. They carry a lot of Dave Wilson trees. Their prices tend to be as good or better than other places that sell Dave Wilson trees.
Evergreen in Carmel Valley for citrus. Usually a pretty good selection and a decent price for citrus.
Bonita Creek Nursery in Bonita (Dave is a CRFG member and has a very broad selection, lots of unusual varieties, but call first so he's there. Worth going to), Clausen's Nursery in Vista, down the street from Exotica. Best citrus trees in N. San Diego county period, tell Ray Patty Sliney sent you. Ganter Nursery on the corner of Vista Way and Gopher Canyon, very lovely people, lots and fruit trees all the time. Walter Andersen Nursery in Poway and also in San Diego (on Enterprise), good selection of fruit trees, especially during bare root season. One of the few nurseries left in San Diego county the heels them in with wet shavings and charges a reasonable amount for true bare root trees :-) And Evergreen also has a nursery in Oceanside as well, if you're up more in N. county.
They are in Vista, Southern Ca. Just a little North of San Diego. They have great prices and alot of trees.
I like clausens the best. Always got great trees from them and they were always very healthy and grew like weeds.
