Bluberry bush healthy - won't grow!

lisaslists2000(7b Charlotte)June 25, 2014

I have a cute little blueberry bush - it's a jubilee highbush, which does not get huge, but is it a VERY slow grower? It filled out a little when i planted it last year. It had several blueberries this year (very tasty!) but it's still little! i assume they put out new growth in the spring like most plants? Thanks for any thoughts.

Lisa:

Blueberries need three primary things to grow rapidly. Moist but not soaking wet, plenty of nitrogen, and proper pH. My first suggestion is frequent feeding with a high nitrogen fertilizer for acid loving plants. Do that and if pH is right the plant will likely take off in about 4 weeks.

I was going to ask about Jubilee.I'm glad to hear they taste good.
There is a local nursery I visited last weekend, that has nice looking plants, lush foliage and loaded with green berries.
What's been the fertilizer? Brady
