World's smallest blueberry plant

alexander3_gw(6 Pennsylvania)June 22, 2012

OK, I don't actually know that, but it must be close. I was hiking in the woods in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania yesterday, and noticed a tiny blueberry plant growing near an old tree stump in the shade. I did not see any other blueberry plants nearby. It was maybe 3 inches tall and had 5 or 6 leaves, very thin stem. The only reason I noticed it is because it actually had 4 berries! I tasted one that was blue. Not much flavor other than tart.

It sure looked like blueberry leaves and fruit. Is there anything else it could have been?

Alex

Possibly some kind of Huckleberry.I'm not sure if there are any wild ones that grow in Pennsylvania though. Brady
