So few cherries

grdnluvrJune 3, 2012

Hello, I was hoping some one here could tell me why my cherry tree produces so few cherries. Last year was the first year we got cherries and we got only 2 or 3. This year we got 2 and no signs of any others. By looking at the tree you would think we were gonna get a ton. There were tons of blossoms and tons of the stems and the stones (I think thats what its called). Thanks for any help!

By stems and stones do you mean the birds ate them or the fell off when the cherry was small? Birds you should be able to tell. Small cherries that fall off without developing means they weren't pollinated. If you tell us your current variety we can recommend a pollinator. Otherwise Royal Lee/Minnie Royal for low chilling socal and a Lapins for higher chilling areas.
