What is wrong with this Fuyu Persimmon?

Suzi AKA DesertDance Zone 9bJune 5, 2014

It was neglected when we acquired the property, and we put it on the drip system. Last November, we had more Persimmons than we could dream of.

We pruned. NOW, it looks like this.

Why are the baby fruit dying? Does it have a disease? There is some fruit on the tree, but not like when it was neglected. And the leaf damage. What is causing that? The skelotonizer?

This confuses me.

The leaf damage kind of looks like black vine weevil. But there are many insects that could cause similar damage. It might be going biennial from having such a big crop last yr.
