Are you sure it is an issai? I am in zone5a and it dies to the ground every year. All my other kiwi varieties so long as the male is in bloom produce lots of fruit. You might need a pollinator.

Hope you don't mind if I hijack this post a bit... can you give some advice on growing Hardy Kiwi's. I have two female vines and a male vine. THey are Actinidia arguta's I have trellised them. They are 2 years old. I know I have a few more years to go but is there anything else I should do for them other than keep them fertilized, weeded, etc.?

Thanks
