Apples - Calcium Applicaions?
I've been reading about bitter pit and calcium applications. Although I've never seen any BP in any of my apples, I don't really store them either...I've read it often shows up in storage.
Do any of you apply calcium?
If so, how...foliar or soil application?
BIG Question: do you use cacium nitrate, calcium carbonate or calcium sulfate? All three forms are available on Ebay and all are very inexpensive.
UC Davis recommended 3 foliar applications (calcium nitrate) June, July, August. I'd rather stay away from foliar applications because of washing off my pest sprays. Foliar I suspect is quickest, but since I have no issue at this point would slower soil applications be ok?
Maybe I could add calcium nitrate to insecticide/fungicide sprays? I searched for this, but came up empty.
Should I bother with it at all?
