Two of the fruits of my watermelon plant have turned yellow and the leaves are starting to curl up and die.
Any idea of what is causing this?
Are you sure that's a watermelon? It looks more like a gourd or another type melon. A picture of the leaves would help. Both healthy and the yellow ones.
What's the source of the seeds? Purchased or saved?
That attachment to the melon looks too big to be a watermelon. More of a gourd type attachment looks like Delicata Squash.
It is an orange tendersweet and the instead of it being light and dark green the light green is more like a yellow color. There is a 3rd fruit that is growing and the coloring is normal IE light and dark green.
Also the leaves have being to curl up and turn brown and die.
You can partially see the 2nd fruit in the attached pic.
The leaves look a lot more like squash too. So does the vines.
Where did you get the plant? I'm thinking there was some sort of a mixup
That's not a watermelon plant or fruit. As everyone else has said it's squash.
The disease affecting your plant is powdery mildew. It's very common on squash, pumpkins, and I've had it one yr on watermelon. There are effective spray materials.
