peaf leaf disease/fungus?

steve_in_los_ososJuly 1, 2013

Three out of the four pear bench grafts I did this past dormant season are doing really well, pushing past 18" now and looking good. They had some issues with misshapen or curled leaves early on but seemed to have gotten past that as the weather has warmed a little.

Not so the Seckel. It remains runty and it's leaves do not look healthy:

(sorry about the blur...)

I've sprayed a few times with Serenade but not regularly. It seems to have stopped growing. Maybe the graft has failed or is just really tenuous, but the leaves sure do look like something is going on there.

Any suggestions from those who know pears?

s...sure looks like some fungal aliment with the brown spots on underside of leaves. Treat it, feed and water it, and it might come back.

Maybe blister mites and fungus entering through feeding site. Horticultural oil spray under leaves when cool in the evening. Reapply in a week. I see the blisters/ red bumps and maybe mites are the culprit

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a shot, maybe keep the plant out of the sun for a couple of days afterwards just to be sure. I'd feel better if it were at least growing like the others. That's what scares me the most.

(guess I need to watch my "magic fingers" better; whatever a "peaf" is......!)

+1 to blister mites. I have them as well.
