To eat or not to eat?

One edge of my lawn is lined with wild blackberries. My septic tank and field line is on the same side of my yard. The blackberries are about 30 feet downgrade from the field lines.

Would you consider these berries safe to eat?

If the leachate were at the surface, which it is not, and you were talking about eating carrots fresh from the ground, that might be a different story.

But berries, definitely safe...
