Help I was given a fruit bearing plant that gets spiny nuts or fruit with custard fruit that grows on stalk?

Definitely not avocado... in fact does not even look like a woody plant, but rather an herbaceous annual or perennial.

I have no idea but it has the look of something in the nightshade family, Solanaceae. Definitely confirm the ID before sampling, as this plant family (like many others) has several deadly members.
