copper and fuyu persimmons

I have some fuyu persimmons that are aprox 10 years old they are getting Lichen on them. It is not real bad yet but the question is can I spray copper on the fuyu trees to get rid of the lichen this winter after the leaves all fall. Normally I don't spray any thing on my persimmons they always just take care of themselves. I don't know if the lichen will hurt them it just looks bad.

Lichen are harmless to your tree. I'm astounded that one might consider spraying a tree to kill lichen.
