earwigs in b berries

billy-o(5)July 14, 2013

I live in northeast Ohio and we 've had a lot of rain lately. So the blueberries have earwigs hanging out in many of the clusters and seem to be feasting. Between the birds, chipmunks, squirrels now I have these.

Are these normmal pests and what's best to deter the earwigs?

Thanks for any help.

I've had a similar problem with slugs and pill bugs in recent weeks. I don't recall ever having a problem like this before, but, then again, I don't recall getting over a foot of rain between mid June and mid July either. My all purpose solution for slugs, pill bugs and earwigs is Sluggo-Plus. You might also try some homemade oil traps.
