Watermelon's Rotting

gardenang7July 30, 2012

My Watermelon plant keeps producing tiny watermelons, but then they turn black and seem to rot away. I have only gotten one watermelon to grow past this size without rotting away. Can anyone help with this problem?

I'm assuming the little tiny watermelons are the females and they are not getting pollinated properly. I usually pollinate by hand using a small soft bristled paint brush to transfer the pollen from the males, which are the flowers without the tiny watermelons, to the females. It seems to work well.

More Calcium? Or proper Ph and nutrient uptake.
