Will my tree survive?

philly_kid(z6 PA)August 28, 2013

I have a Liberty apple tree that I planted last fall after receiving it "feathered." There were actually two or three apples on it earlier this year which dropped during the summer. Last week I came out to find this.

with these on it...

I now see that there are some leaves starting to come out. Is there a chance that my tree will survive? Anything special I should do?

It should survive. After you squash the worms check all the other trees to avoid same. BT works down here if you need to spray another time.

Bt must be applied before the cats are half-grown. Better stomp on those!

I'm thinking the eggs might have come from the nursery, in which case you might have a case for replacement.

What kind of worms are on it? They may have been on from last fall as eggs?
