First (and only) Montrose apricot
I ordered a Montrose apricot several years ago from Bob Purvis. It arrived this spring in stunning condition. I must admit that when it bloomed I allowed one fruit to develop. It was hail damaged but I picked it today and wow, I was stunned at the flavor and sweetness. Eating it was akin to eating a delectable sweet, as in you could not eat too many at one time; the flavor stays on your tongue long after. It was small, but boy did it have a big taste. Since there was only one fruit, and it was damaged, I don't know how big it would have gotten normally.
I was shopping on Bay Laurel just before and found that they are now carrying Montrose apricot.
It is supposed to be a late-blooming, hardy variety. I will definitely order one for my Aunt in Iowa.
