Another fruit identification thread

speedster1August 13, 2014

Strolling through the city park the other day and came across a cluster of small trees. After assuming they were cherries I took a closer look and realized they definitely weren't cherries. They clustered like cherries do but as you might be able to see in the poor quality picture the bottom of the fruit has a little button (sorry I don't know the terminology) that resembles that of an apple. So I'm thinking they are some type of crab apple. But I've never personally seen crap apples this color and in clusters like this. I actually bit into one and it has the texture of an apple and of course tasted bad.

So I'm assuming they are some type of ornamental crab apple but maybe not. Anyone know?

your guess of crabapple is almost certainly correct, they come in so many different shapes, sizes, colors, and of course flavors...
