Pawpaw Fruiting After 3 Years!

ch3rri(z6 PA)August 11, 2013

Look Like I will get to taste some pawpaw fruits this year. Now I wonder when they will ripe. I read pawpaw ripe at the end of September and wondering if that's true for all pawpaw. I planted these 2-3 years ago and they're already fruiting. Lucky I didn't have to wait 5-6 years! :) They are Sunflower pawpaw and Golden pawpaw.

Here is a link that might be useful: My Pawpaw

That's great.I have a Sunflower that's about two that started to fruit by me using it's own pollen, but they fell off.
I've read they get fairly fragrant when ripe and will drop and also be somewhat soft to the touch. Brady

I didn't pollinate the pawpaw. I planted two trees close to each other so maybe that helped with pollination. The second year the flowers almost formed fruit but fell of afterward. I only tasted the pawpaw once. I hope mine will taste good.

Mine were grafted trees. They were 12-15 inches. My trees are still short, I think maybe 6-7 ft now.
