Can't find anything on this 'eatable' tree

Nashonii(6 Ozarks)September 14, 2013

Has anyone ever heard of, eaten, or grown Decaisnea fargesii, Blue Sausage Fruit ? I saw it on a website from Australia, so went to our Aussie Gardenweb site, and it didn't have a match. I'm wondering what the fruit from this tree tastes like. Is it good, or just a gimmick. If it's good, would it grow here?

Looks interesting. How are the fruits prepared? Are they used like beans? Are the seeds available in the US?

What is used is the sweet snot between the beans, that is what I've read. It is novelty like akebia.
