chanticleer pear tree

mary_maxSeptember 13, 2012

I have a chanticleer pear tree that has produced the fruit and now is doing its fall show big time. It has bright red leaves that are drying out and all the rest of these trees are absolutely green no sign of fall. Normally these trees are not doing a fall show til mid November. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. It is about 6 years old.

My thoughts? It's a callery pear; best use is as a rootstock for a good fruiting variety.
You did post this on the Fruit & Orchards forum...

Meow. Sorry, that was catty of me - but probably better treatment than you'd have received had you posted this at the Trees forum, which is largely populated with callery objectionists(I'm one of them).

Hard to say if there's a significant problem with your tree without a photo.
