Are both of these cantaloupes growing correctly

hot_roses9September 2, 2013

I have a cantaloupe plant and now I have 5 that are growing. There seems to be 2 versions or something. Are they both ok.

This is what 2 of them look like and they started growing ealier than the other 3.

This is what the other 3 look like and they started growing later than the other 2.

I hope you can help and I'm pretty sure that the cantaloupe have Powdery Mildew but I don't know if it may have affected the cantaloupe.

You have at least two plants bearing different fruit. Both types are common. It's not a disease or any other abnormality.

I have watermelons (crimson sweet) growing right next to them so that possibly explains the different leaves but both of them are connected to the same type of leaves or looked the same and they both had the same type of flowers that's why I don't understand why they would be different. Also, I didn't mean to have them grow right next to each other. I just threw seeds into a garden box but didn't expect anything because nothing had grown there for quite some time.

They just might be maturing at different rates. The 2 that you say started earlier will eventually have the net-like covering also as they mature. The main issue is the powdery mildew which might make it a moot point if it spreads rapidly.
