What type of apple is this?

joshuaaceSeptember 28, 2013

Just moved into a new home. Have an apple tree that appears to be grafted onto a crabapple. One trunk of the tree has crabapples growing and the rest has these apples. Anyone know what kind of apple it is? Do we let the crabapple grow for pollination purposes?
