victoria plum tree

PeterS1938October 18, 2013

I have a six year old victoria plum tree that for the last two years has produced two or three plums each year. It is in a very large frost free pot and in the season looks quite healthy. Can any one tell me what to feed it with and when to feed it to encourage it to fruit?

Is the tree being pollinated?

Unless it is on a dwarfing rootstock I'd get it out of the pot. They don't need any feeding if they're in the ground. And young plums often take a while to get going. Did it flower and then not set fruit? That could be the result of the late frosts we had or, as harvestman says, poor pollination. It is self fertile but does better with some compatible friends.

Or did it not flower?
