wintering potted trees
the local nurseries are selling fruit trees for 50% off, and i would like to buy a few to plant in the spring. i need to take down some huge trees in november in my yard, so i can't plantthis fall.
i have read that i can half bury the trees in my garden, and mulch with straw and they will be ok for the winter. however, i friend told me that i have to watch for mice eating the bark. would i be safe from mice if i completely buried the trunk in soil? any other tips?
