American Summer Pearmain Apple - What happened?

megamav(5a - NY)October 24, 2013

One of 2 apples described as "Best" in Apples of New York, the other being Newtown Pippin.

Newtown Pippin has shown limited success, how about this one?

Anyone try this one?
Season is August.

I have it in my orchard but no fruit yet. I have heard few first-hand descriptions, most catalogs just repeat each other. Burford has it in his new book, he isn't jumping up and down about it but sounds generally positive.

I read it, its dry, like the rest of the book. :)
How long have you had the tree in the ground?
From what I've read, it seems it would compliment Ginger Gold well, as a summer treat.
