Just wondering if anyone has experience with blueberries planted on the western exposure of your house? The side of our garage gets afternoon sun and I have room for some there. Thanks for anyone's input!
My blueberries are all planted, enclosed and caged on the western side of my yard as well, and they are doing great there. I planted them 4 years ago when I moved into my home and they are very productive in that location. I get a little morning sun, but I get a lot of afternoon/evening sun during the growing season. I am trying to upload pics of how they fared this past year so you can see what I am talking about so please bare with me in getting them uploaded properly. LOL! I planted them right next to my patio and kitchen space so I would not have far to walk to maintain and harvest them. I didn't even think about the best location at that time because I was not as knowledgeable about planting stuff as I am now (since I have been reading the garden forum every day). In any case, I have never had a problem getting good production or adequate sun from that area and I hope that things will out for you in that area of your space as well.
I have some in containers now, facing West and they are doing fine. This was the area that my first Blueberries were planted. They didn't grow very well there in the ground,so they were pulled and put in pots.Maybe the reason was, they were too close to the concrete carport slab and that was making the soil too alkaline. Most of mine grow better in containers. Here are a few more...The previous pic of strawberries because they are growing in the same location. The strawberries are happy too! LOL

Here is the last one. Please let us know how you blueberries are doing next year!
Thank you so much for the input! Your blueberries and strawberries look so healthy and are a beautiful combination! I have strawberries in raised beds in the backyard :) I am still fine-tuning my planting layout, but hopefully the blueberries will fare well where ever they end up!! Thanks again!
Jpyarb, you are quite welcomed. Let us know how yours fare next summer! The strawberries love the location as well.
